New intake 2019
Welcome to Preston Primary School. Here is some useful information and a little bit about the systems we use.
Your child is in Foundation with Mrs Bastin and Mrs Clague. The unit leader is Mrs Bastin.
On Wednesday 4th – Friday 6th September the school day starts at 9.00am and finishes at 3.00pm. From Monday 9th September, the school day will start at 8:50am (gates open at 8:40am) and finish at 3:15pm, in line with the rest of the school.
Bring your child to the Key Stage 1 playground and the bell will ring at 8.50am. The teacher will come out to meet the children. You can say your goodbyes and the children can walk into class. At the end of the day please collect your child from the KS1 playground. Please be patient as we ensure each child has a grown up.
On the first day (Wednesday 4th September) there will be ‘Tea and Tissues’ in the hall after drop off. This is a chance to meet other parents and support one another.
Please ensure correct PE kits are brought into school at the start of each half term. The kits will stay in school and be sent home to be washed during the holidays.
Your child will need to bring a named water bottle and book bag into school daily. Please ensure everything is clearly named.
Please do not bring in toys from home, it would be a shame if they got lost.
We have listed below the different sites we use for communication and payments etc. Please feel free to come and see a member of staff at the school office if you require any help or assistance with any of these.
SCHOOL NEWS and COMMUNICATION
In Foundation we feel it is important to build good communication links to give you an insight into your child’s first year at school. We produce a weekly newsletter which can be found on the School News app and the full version, with photographs, can be found via the Letters and Newsletters page. Your child will also be given a red home school link book. Please write in any messages as these are checked daily. We are always available at the start and end of the day if you have any questions.
You can download the School News app from either iTunes App Store, Google Play or Windows Store searching for School News. Launch this free app and click on ‘find my school’ using GPS or using our postcode TQ2 6UY. You should then be able to click on News to view the latest news items, unit letters and upcoming calendar events by clicking on events. We recommend you have this app on your phone as the fastest route to useful information.
With trips, swimming, residential, and after school activities, where a payment is required, we notify you this payment is available using our School Money/Eduspot site. You can access the parent login using the following link https://login.eduspot.co.uk/public/portal/parent/?app=schoolmoney. You will be asked to enter your child’s first name, your email address, mobile number and a password. This will be sent to you via text, after your child's first day. School Money is also where you can book and pay for Breakfast and After School club provisions. You will need to complete a registration form, before your child attends, which you can find on the Breakfast and After School Club page on our website.
School meals are free for children in Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2. Your child can order a school meal with the class teacher each morning. The lunch menus can be viewed at https://www.feedinghungryminds.co.uk/edu/preston-primary-school/. You will initially need to register your child, and then you can view and order their school meals online.
Should your child be absent due to illness, please call the absence line on 01803 607589 and leave a message with your child’s name, class, and reason for absence. Alternatively, you can text this information to 07786 208446. If your child has sickness or diarrhoea they will need to be absent from school for 48 hours after the last episode of illness. For planned absences of any nature, you will need to complete an absence request form. These are available on the Special Leave of Absence page on our website.
We hope your child will be very happy during their time at Preston. If you have any queries or concerns please do not hesitate to let us know.
