Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back, we hope you had a wonderful half term.

Over the next few weeks Puffins and Penguins will be enjoying traditional stories including Three Little Pigs, The Gingerbread Man, The Magic Porridge Pot, Elves and the Shoemaker and The Three Billy Goats Gruff. On Tuesday the children were very excited to find some mysterious items in the woods linking to traditional tales. It prompted lots of discussion about key events and characters. They particularly enjoyed stirring the magic porridge.

On Wednesday 6^th March we would like to invite you into the classroom at 2.45pm to share a story with your child.

Home learning

• Read some traditional stories and talk about what happens and the different characters.
• Draw a character from your favourite story and write some words or simple sentences about them.
• Find out about Shrove Tuesday and how to make pancakes. You could make a recipe card.
• Finding one more/less e.g. If I have 15 raisins and I eat one how many will I have?

Exciting news! To support our learning we are going on our first school trip. On 21^st March we will be visiting Pennywell Farm. You will receive an e-mail and text next week with further details.

Thursday 7^th March is World Book Day. This is a chance for the children to share their love of reading and to come to school dressed as their favourite character from a book.
