Digital Leaders

Nine pupils in year 5 & 6 have been appointed as Digital Leaders. They have a responsibility to learn about new innovations in computing, and share these with staff and children in school.

On Thursday 18th November, our Digital Leaders took part in a showcase event at South Devon College where they experienced a variety of workshops that explored varying computing skills to bring that knowledge back to school. Children spent the day working in the newly established Tech Building at the college and explored new and exciting ways to apply computing skills such as coding and working with algorithms. Not only did the children build on their computing skills, but it was also a fantastic opportunity for our children to demonstrate 21st century skills (4Cs – collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking) in an entirely new context and environment. The staff at South Devon College had nothing but praise for our Digital Leaders, one member of staff said, “Thank you again for bringing your Digital Leaders in today, we are so glad that they enjoyed it, and they really were an absolute pleasure to have, so polite, and they were a fantastic representation of Preston Primary School!”

This is only the beginning for our Digital Leaders, so watch this space for more news on what they are doing to support learning across our school!
