Goodrington House Assembly

Be a Good Citizen

June 5, 2025

Yesterday, our Goodrington House Captains—Nate, Evie, Max, and Corben—led a special House Assembly to celebrate the success of their recent charity fundraising event in support of the Salvation Army, and to officially hand over the donations raised.

The House Captains proudly shared the highlights of their tabletop game event. They expressed a heartfelt thank you to their fellow House members for their brilliant ideas in shaping the event and to everyone at Preston Primary who took part and donated. Thanks to the creativity, enthusiasm, and generosity of pupils and parents across the school, they raised an amazing £73.03! As part of their efforts, the House Captains also wrote a thoughtful letter to Matt from the Salvation Army, inviting him to attend the assembly.

We were thrilled to welcome Matt, who spoke passionately about the importance of fundraising and how it directly supports people in need, including those experiencing homelessness. He shared that the donation will be split between the Torquay and Paignton branches and explained that £31.51 can provide someone in need with food and drink for an entire week - a powerful reminder of the impact our contributions can make.

Matt expressed how proud he was of Goodrington House and the wider school community for their kindness and generosity. A huge thank you goes to our House Captains for organising such a wonderful event, to children and parents for taking part and for their generous donations, and to the Salvation Army for their inspiring visit.

This event truly demonstrated our school aim of "Be a Good Citizen" by supporting our local community and working together to make a difference.

Well done, Goodrington House!
