Making Lunchtimes Fun in KS1 and Foundation

Play Leaders

October 22, 2026

Lunchtimes in KS1 are full of fun, friendship, and opportunities to play! Our fantastic Play Leaders are doing a wonderful job of supporting and encouraging younger children, acting as positive role models, and helping to ensure everyone feels included and has an enjoyable lunchtime.

We offer a wide range of activities across the playground, giving children opportunities to be active, creative, and imaginative. We have also extended our lunchtime provision to include the Undercroft, providing even more space for children to explore and play. This fantastic area offers an indoor space with toys, books, crafts, and role-play opportunities, alongside an outdoor area where children can enjoy scooters and tricycles.

Over the past year, we have been busy developing the Undercroft, and while we are delighted with the improvements so far, we still have lots of exciting ideas to make it even better!

Can you help?

We would love to give any unwanted toys a new home! If you are having a clear-out, we would be very grateful for donations of good-quality toys and resources, particularly:

- Outdoor toys and play equipment

- Plastic play food and role-play accessories

- Baby dolls, dolls' cots, highchairs, and other accessories

- Lego and construction toys

 - Puzzles, games, and books

- Any other good-quality toys suitable for our younger children

Your donations will help us continue to develop our lunchtime provision, creating an engaging and stimulating environment where children can play, build friendships, and develop important social skills.

Thank you for helping us make lunchtimes at Preston even more enjoyable for our children!
