Ready for Work
Foundation Stage Child-Led Tours

To support our School Aims of Love to Learn and Ready for Work, the children in Foundation took on the role of tour guides. Parents, carers, and extended family members were invited into the classroom, where the children led personalised tours of their learning environment. To prepare, the children created tour guide tick sheets, practised key vocabulary, and developed stem sentences to support their explanations.
The tours provided a wonderful opportunity for the children to develop their Oracy skills, particularly presentational talk: speaking clearly, confidently, and purposefully to an audience. Sharing their learning with familiar adults helped the children build confidence in expressing their ideas and communicating what they have been doing in school. It was a delight to see the pride they took in explaining their routines, learning areas, and favourite activities.
Having only been in school for six weeks, the children are already demonstrating an impressive sense of responsibility for their learning environment. It was wonderful to hear them speak so positively and confidently, showing how proud they are to be part of the Preston family. Well done, Puffins and Penguins!
