Sponsored Swim 2026 - What an Incredible Achievement!

What an unforgettable week! Our Sponsored Swim 2026 brought together every child across Preston Primary in a fantastic celebration of determination, teamwork, and community spirit. From our youngest swimmers in Foundation Stage, to our oldest pupils, every child took to the water challenging themselves to swim as many lengths as possible while contributing to our collective goal to swim as many crossings of Torbay as possible. Over the five day challenge, the children collectively swam 6,445 lengths, the equivalent of an impressive 12 crossings of the bay! This is an incredible achievement, and we are so proud of every single child.

This term, it has been wonderful to see every child making the most of our school pool. Whether they were taking their very first strokes, developing new techniques, or growing in confidence in the water, the progress and enthusiasm shown by the children has been fantastic. Seeing every child benefit from this unique facility has reminded us just how special our pool is and why it is so important that we continue to invest in its future.

We have been completely overwhelmed by the generosity of our families, friends, and wider community. The support shown through sponsorship has been nothing short of incredible and we cannot thank everyone enough for getting behind the children and helping us raise vital funds for our school pool. We are absolutely thrilled to reveal that, so far, together we have raised an amazing £9,098! Sponsorship money is continuing to come in so this total is expected to grow even further. A huge thank you goes to our wonderful children for their enthusiasm, perseverance, and resilience throughout the week, to our families and supporters for their incredible generosity, to FOPPS for their continued support, and to all the staff and volunteers who helped make the event run so smoothly.

The money raised will play a vital role in helping us upgrade and improve different areas of our pool, ensuring it continues to provide opportunities for both current and future pupils. We will continue to keep our school community updated on the improvements these funds will make possible. Thanks to the kind donation received last year from Roslin Hall Endowment House, Torquay, we were able to purchase two new circulation pumps at the start of this season, which proved vital to the successful running of the pool this year. This latest fundraising success will allow us to continue investing in this much valued facility.

This has been a truly memorable event that perfectly reflects the strength of our school community. Together, we have achieved something very special and we couldn't be more proud of everyone involved. Our fundraising efforts are far from over and we are delighted that members of our wider community have already been in touch to express an interest in supporting future fundraising for our swimming pool. We look forward to sharing more exciting updates with you in the months ahead.
