Girls' Football

March 9, 2026

It has been a busy and exciting time for our girls’ football teams! Last week, our year 3/4 and year 5/6 girls travelled to the Devon FA to take part in the Devon Schools football competition. Both teams represented the school brilliantly.

In the Year 3/4 girls tournament, the team competed in a round-robin and finished 4th overall. Across their six matches they won 2 games, drew 2, and lost 2. There were several closely contested games with the girls showing great determination, teamwork and fantastic sportsmanship throughout the tournament. They supported one another brilliantly and never gave up, even in the toughest matches.

In the Year 5/6 girls tournament, the team faced some very strong opposition. Despite the challenge, the girls showed fantastic determination and teamwork throughout the group stage finishing 2nd in their group and earning a well-deserved place in the semi-finals. In the semi-final they faced Shiphay Primary, where they put in a tremendous effort and battled hard until the final whistle. Although the result didn’t go their way, the girls should be incredibly proud of their performance, determination, and the way they represented the school. Both teams should be incredibly proud of their effort, attitude, and the way they represented the school. Well done girls!

Following on from this, the year 5/6 girls returned to the Devon FA to take part in the Bradfords Primary Cup organised by Saints Southwest. It was a very well attended event and it was wonderful to have the support of parents cheering the team on. The girls played some fantastic football throughout the tournament and showed great teamwork, determination, and resilience. They progressed into the cup stage after some strong performances. Although the team didn’t go on to win the cup, they successfully won two of the matches. They should be incredibly proud of the effort they showed and the quality of football they played throughout the competition. The girls worked hard and supported each other brilliantly.

After school today, the year 5/6 girls team will be playing their league matches at Paignton Academy – good luck girls, you are going from strength to strength.
