Unit 2 Celebration of Learning

Unit 2 Celebration of Learning

May 21, 2026

This half term, Unit 2 have been exploring how to design and build freestanding structures as part of their Design and Technology enquiry, “How can I make a freestanding structure stronger and more stable?”. The children showed excellent teamwork while developing windmills to mark the planting areas for the Make and Grow Club. They investigated how to create cylinder nets and discovered ways to strengthen structures using flanges and braces. They also experimented with a range of joining techniques to ensure their windmills would remain stable, even in windy conditions. The finished windmills were beautifully decorated to represent different planting areas, such as strawberries and blackberries.

Well done, Unit 2! You have demonstrated fantastic teamwork and creativity to produce such strong and stable structures. Thank you to all the parents and carers who joined us to view the children’s work and celebrate their learning in their books.
