Be a Good Citizen
Be a Good Citizen

As part of our School Aim, ‘Be a Good Citizen’, our Goodrington House Captains, Iris and Oshi, have shown excellent leadership by researching charities that make a meaningful difference in our community. After researching many charities, Iris and Oshi decided to support Punk Against Poverty, a charity that helps people facing financial hardship.
Iris and Oshi wrote a thoughtful letter to Punk Against Poverty explaining why the charity inspired them, outlining their fundraising ideas and inviting the team to visit Goodrington House. We were delighted when Stefanie and Katie agreed to visit Goodrington’s first House assembly. The children listened as Stefanie and Katie explained the different ways they support families and the positive impact this has on people’s lives. They shared how their charity provided those in need with essentials such as food, school uniforms, and laptops so children can access their education. Last year alone, the charity supported approximately 1,000 people.
Inspired by the visit, Iris and Oshi will now be working with their House to organise a fundraising event in support of Punk Against Poverty in the Summer Term. As they develop their ideas, they will be demonstrating their School Value of Teamwork and helping Goodrington House come together to make a real difference to our community.
