Discover Islam Visitor
Religious Education

This week, Unit 4 were lucky to have a visit from Imran Asif from Discover Islam. He started off by discussing the importance of learning about other religions so we can be understanding of their beliefs and showing our British Value of Tolerance. One in five people follow the religion of Islam, so it is important that we are aware of their key beliefs. Imran Asif spoke about the Quran, which is their holy book, and why it is important to Muslims. He spoke to the children about the 5 pillars of Islam: Shahada (declaration of faith), Salat (prayer), Zakat (giving to others), Sawm (fasting), and Hajj (pilgrimage). At the end of the assembly, the children got to ask Imran Asif some questions and they showed great respect when doing this and asked some thoughtful questions. We are so grateful to Imran Asif for travelling to visit us and sharing an insight into Islam.
