Be a Good Citizen
On Friday, a group of Year 5/6 pupils had an incredible day at South Devon College, diving into the world of Marine Engineering! In the morning, they showcased their Design and Technology skills by designing and building their very own boats. Then, they float-tested these and a winner was chosen by a member of staff from South Devon College based on the criteria of sturdiness, aesthetics, and functionally.
The afternoon was equally inspiring as they learned about the impact of plastic pollution on our oceans. Demonstrating their commitment to our school aim of ‘Being Good Citizens’ the children designed innovative machines to tackle this pressing issue.
To wrap up the day, our budding Engineers presented their designs to judges, honing their public speaking skills and sharing their brilliant ideas with confidence.
