Open Wide, Step Inside - Oral Health
Responsibility

Our Year 2 children were very lucky to have the Dental Outreach team from Peninsula Health come to see us on Monday afternoon. The children learnt about Geoffrey the Giant who doesn’t like to look after his teeth and has never visited the dentist! With the help of his friends Geoffrey learns some important key oral health messages which are vital to help keep his mouth and teeth healthy.
Tooth decay is largely preventable, so the promotion of better oral health in young children is a top priority. Looking after ourselves links with our school value of Responsibility and the skills of Independence; the children all came home with a goody bag from the oral health team.
The children were excellent ambassadors for our school and answered lots of questions about oral hygiene, such as, How many sets of teeth do you have? What happens to your teeth if you eat lots of sugary things and don’t brush your teeth?
A big thank you to the team at Peninsula Health for the workshop. This great resource is vital as it gives the children the skills and knowledge they require to continue looking after their oral health at home.
