School Council

Democracy is an important British Value that we want all the children at Preston to know about, which is why our School Council is so important — it allows children to voice their opinions and take an active role in shaping school life. This half term, every class in KS1 and KS2 held hustings to vote for their class School Council representative for the year. The children who wanted to be put forward wrote a speech to share with their peers, showing confidence and communication skills that prepare them to be Ready for Work, one of our School Aims. Well done to all the children who shared their speeches. Each child voted and one representative was chosen from each class, helping them to understand what it means to be Good Citizens in a democratic community.
Here are our representatives for this year:
Kestrels-Arthur
Eagles-Jack
Hawks-Tommy
Sparrows-Mia
Starlings-Harlie
Swifts-Alice
Snowy Owls-Ayda
Tawny Owls-Lucas
Little Owls- Penny
Nest - Khloe
Last year, the School Council Representatives led the Asda Cashpot initiative and researched playground equipment to help make lunchtimes more enjoyable for all children. We look forward to seeing the changes the School Council make this year.
