What was Torbay like in the Stone Age?
Unit 3 visit Kents Cavern

Unit 3 have enjoyed a trip to Kents Cavern this week. This visit has prepared the children for our upcoming Short Enquiry ‘What was Torbay like in the Stone Age?’ and has given them a fantastic background knowledge of the period. Children enjoyed a woodland walk and hunt for clues about life in the Stone Age, handling replica artefacts such as Neanderthal skulls and flint knives, and had a tour of the cave. Everyone showed a real love of learning when taking part in the activities and many children asked insightful, thoughtful questions to further their own understanding. We learnt about the excavation of the caves and how the caves help Historians and Archaeologists to learn about the past, with many children showing interest in these careers. Everyone showed respect throughout the visit, and we are very proud of them all. Thank you to Kents Cavern for providing each child with a free child return visit.
