Unit 3 greatly enjoyed their visit from Mrs Fairclough, a local Architect who works for Kay Elliott. She spoke to the children about her job and the process that Architects go through to design buildings. Mrs Fairclough showed us many great local examples of buildings that had been designed in an artistic way. She also explained that her firm undertake a lot of work abroad, designing fun places such as theme parks. Mrs Fairclough explained that Architects are often inspired by art, and she shared some of the artists that have inspired her. She then set us a challenge to design a building for Sonic the Hedgehog, where he could meet friends for food. The children worked well in groups to design and make their 3D models to meet this design brief out of lolly sticks, masking tape, and paper straws. Well done to all the children for showing great team working skills and a big thank you to Mrs Fairclough for your time.
