Remembrance Assembly

Yesterday, Unit 4 presented their Remembrance Assembly to Unit 3. The children explained why you should take time to reflect, especially on Remembrance Day. We would like to thank Mr Carpenter and Reverend Pout for joining our Assembly, where they shared some readings and reflections about Remembrance Day. Mr Carpenter read two poems 'The Man in the Arena’ by Theodore Roosevelt and 'In Waters Deep’ by Eileen Mahoney, and reflected that twelve months ago he was laying a wreath from onboard ship in the Arctic Circle. Reverend Pout talked about the importance of being peacemakers and that we can all be peacemakers in our everyday lives.

It is important that we teach the children to be Good Citizens, to be tolerant and to be respectful. The children also need to understand the importance of accepting other people’s differences and cultures. This links with our Personal, Social, Health and Economic unit of work this half term, which is all about celebrating differences. All the children in the Assembly showed their school value of Respect.
