Foundation Stage Weekly Newsletter
Puffins and Penguins Weekly Newsletter 11th January 2019
Dear Parents and Carers,
Firstly, we hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year. Well done to all of the children for the calm and happy way they have returned to school. The children have enjoyed talking about their Christmas holiday and have produced some wonderful writing.
This half term our theme is People Who Help Us. We will be talking about everyday heroes and people who keep us safe. We have some exciting visitors coming into school starting next week with a visit from the Police.
In Maths we will continue to count to different quantities and match amounts and numerals. We have been using the language of more and less.
The children have enjoyed a fun music session this week. We used tambourines and claves to explore rhythm.
We are looking forward to an exciting half term and sharing our learning with you.
Here is our latest school value in dinosaur form!
“I am Independasaurus. I like to have a go at doing things by myself and I am able to concentrate and focus really well. I am good at having a go and trying out different ways, even if I find things tricky because this is when I am learning the most. I know that it is fine to make mistakes as this is how I learn new things.”
Ideas for home learning
- Find examples of 1 more and 1 less. E.g I have 4 apples if I had one more, how many would I have?
- Help your child to write the speech bubble we have stuck in their red book
We would like to invite you into school on Tuesday 22nd January at 2.45pm to hear more about Read Write Inc. We will talk about how your child is learning to read and how this can be supported at home. We look forward to seeing you.
Many thanks,
The Foundation Team
