Foundation Stage Weekly Newsletter
Puffins and Penguins Weekly Newsletter 29th March 2019
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to a newsletter full of celebration and opportunities.
It was wonderful to see so many Parents and Carers joining us in the woods to celebrate the children’s work on Traditional Tales. They have worked very hard over the past few weeks and were so excited to share their illustrations and writing. The sun was shining and the woods made a magical setting. We hope the children are inspired to continue reading and share stories with you. In preparation for the outcome the children had been busy baking Gingerbread Men – thankfully none of them ran away.
Sadly we said goodbye to Patch and Nibbles today, they are going back to Mrs Bastin’s house. The children have enjoyed having the guinea pigs in class and have demonstrated such responsibility when feeding, grooming, cleaning and cuddling the guinea pigs. Patch and Nibbles would like to say a very big thank you to all Puffins and Penguins for taking such good care of them and you never know they might be back to visit again one day.
We have many wonderful images and videos of your children enjoying their learning and we would like to create short video clips for you and others to watch. However, we will only be able to include the children who have consent via SIMS Parentlite. If you are able to log on and give consent, we would like to include as many children as possible. If you have any queries please ask the class teacher.

Learn to Swim
At Preston Primary we strive to be innovative and try new things. Therefore we are proud to start offering Learn to Swim sessions in our school pool. These lessons are aimed at children in Puffins, Penguins and Owls classes. We feel it is important to do everything possible to keep our children water safe.
Sessions will be run by our swimming qualified staff. Lessons are half an hour after school. Maximum of five pupils per teacher. Two teachers poolside, with Lifeguard training.
We are offering 20 places initially on a Wednesday straight after school. We will safely hand over children from the class teacher to the swim teacher. Therefore there is no need to pick up your child until 4:30pm. However we have a new covered seating area, and you are most welcome to watch your child swim.
Dates are Wednesday 1st May to Wednesday 24th July.
Sessions are all bookable online and payable in advance. We want the lessons to be value for money and have decided to trial this at £59 for 12 lessons. Please book via www.eduspot.co.uk
If these twenty places fill up we will organise and advertise a second day after school.
If you already buy swimming lessons elsewhere, please consider these as an extra opportunity. All proceeds will go towards the running costs of our wonderful swimming pool.
