Foundation Stage Weekly Newsletter
Puffins and Penguins Weekly Newsletter, 27th September 2019
Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you to all of you who came and supported the Home Learning Meeting on Wednesday. Responsibility for a child’s learning is a triangle of dialogue with parents, school and the child. Therefore, we look forward to see you all at the upcoming Parents’ Evening meetings, especially if you were unable to attend this week’s meeting.
This week we have been using the Learning Ladder. During Choosing Learning time, the children are encouraged to challenge themselves and demonstrate what it means to be a good learner. They talk to the rest of the class about the things they have created and they gradually move up the ladder. When they get to the top, they get a dip in the special box to choose a small treat.
Here is the school value Respect in dinosaur form.
"I am Respectosaur. I am always in the right place at the right time doing the right thing. I always use kind words and have kind hands and I am great at sharing. I show respect by being polite and using my manners. When it is listening time, I always look at the person talking and do not use my own voice."
In Read Write Inc this week the children learnt the sounds c, k, u, b, f. Encourage your child to complete the handwriting pages in the booklet sent home. We will also continue to learn how to say the sounds in a word and then blend sounds together. For example “c-a-t… cat, b-a-d…bad” This is a link to the RWI demonstration video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCBzNnSSxds
In Maths, we explored the numbers 2, 3 and 4. We also introduced subitising. This is when they look at a group of objects and instantly know how many there are without counting. We have been doing this with numbers 0-5.
Have a wonderful weekend.
