Torbay Children's Parliament
Today, three children in Year 5, Izzy, Poppy, and Maisy took part in Torbay Children’s Parliament at Torquay Town Hall. For the past few weeks, the children have been working hard on their presentation, which had to address the theme of making Torbay the best place for children. The girls wanted to focus on SEND schools and why we need more. All the children in Year 5 had an opportunity to work in small groups and then present to Unit 4. Izzy, Poppy, Maisy and Jessica were the winning team.
Eight schools in Torbay attended the event this morning and our pupils came second place – what an amazing achievement! The girls had to present in front of a judging panel which consisted of the CEO of Torbay Council, Head of safeguarding-Nick Bye (Cabinet Member for Children’s Services), and Councillor David Thomas-Leader of the Council. The judges felt that our team's presentation was the most topical and had very strong content. The children demonstrated our school aim Be a Good Citizen amazingly, as they represented our school and their local community. Well done girls, we are very proud of you!
