Foundation Stage Weekly Newsletter

Puffins and Penguins Weekly Newsletter, 17th December 2020

Last week saw the release of the foundation nativity, starring Puffins and Penguins. The children worked extremely hard practising songs and learning their lines. They showed dedication, commitment and amazing teamwork, but most importantly they had fun. The children have enjoyed learning about the Christian story of The First Christmas. They have immersed themselves in their learning and it has inspired their creativity. The children enjoyed watching a special premier viewing of their nativity with popcorn and snacks. They had fun spotting themselves and congratulating their friends.

Recording our own nativity has brought many new learning experiences. The children have grown in confidence to speak out amongst their peers and believe in their abilities. Using technology to record our nativity has sparked curiosity and creativity in the children. They have been using iPads to record their own movies and stories. After Christmas we have plans to include more technology in the classroom to support and enhance children’s learning. Through technology, we would like children to be creative, and to use teamwork and determination to support their learning.

Our school has recently invested in technology and with this we will be able to offer your child experiences that will enhance their future work skills. We look forward to sharing more with you in the new year.

Festive Fun

Over the past two weeks we have had lots of festive fun. The children have been busy wrapping different shaped boxes, they are now experts and are ready to help with the wrapping at home! We also visited the Woodland Camp and with the inspiration of the Stickman story, some of the children made their own Stickman. We also enjoyed a successful Christmas disco and a delicious Christmas lunch.

Oi Frog

The children impressed us this week with their writing about the story Oi Frog. They used rhyming animals and objects to inspire their writing. The children were keen to share their rhyming ideas and even came up with a few of their own ideas. Giraffes sit on baths, bears sit on chairs and hens sit on pens.

Merry Christmas

We would like to finish by saying it has been a pleasure getting to know the children and yourselves this term. They have impressed us with their determination and passion for learning. They bring a smile to our faces everyday and we enjoy sharing an exciting and innovative curriculum with them. We hope you have a special and wonderful Christmas. We look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday 5th January.

Merry Christmas,

Mrs Bastin, Mrs Clague and the Foundation Stage Team
