Preston Lego League

On Thursday 30th March, our Year 3/4 Lego League Team took part in the Regional Final of the FIRST Lego League: Super Powered event in Plymouth, where they competed against Primary and Secondary schools from across the South West. Since the beginning of January, the children have been working very hard on applying their 21st Century Skills, in order to complete a number of challenges. These challenges include:

  • Robot Game, where children are required to build and program a robot to complete tasks within a 2 and a half minute time frame.
  • Innovation Project, where children needed to identify a real-life problem, find a solution, and present their solution to a team of engineers from across the South West.
  • Robot Design, where children are quizzed about their robot and why they designed it in the way that they did.
  • Core Values, where children are judged on their gracious professionalism and application of their values throughout the day.

The team were fantastic ambassadors to our school, with many judges and referees commenting on how brilliant they were, considering how much younger they were compared to the other teams competing (other school groups were Year 6 and above). The scoring was very close in all the events, but we are pleased to announce that our team won the Innovation Project trophy, which you will be able to see in our trophy cabinet in the front office.

Well done, Preston Lego League. You were brilliant!
