Foundation Welcomes Guinea Pigs

Foundation have been very excited about the arrival of guinea pigs, Patch and Nibbles. To support their learning on animal care, the children will be responsible for cleaning, feeding and caring for the guinea pigs over the next couple of weeks. Patch and Nibbles have settled in well and the children are looking forward to learning more about them.

To support this learning and linking to our School Value Responsibility, Foundation were visited yesterday by local vet Tom Yalland. He spoke to the children about the different veterinary roles, the 5 welfare needs of animals, the importance of a healthy diet and how the needs of each type of pet are very different. The children were fascinated by the information and used this experience to ask some wonderful questions. One child commented "Wow, I really want to be a vet and help the animals."
