What happened in 1666?

In Unit 2 children have been learning about the Great Fire of London. They have learnt lots about the differences between the Fire Service we have today and the makeshift firefighters that tackled the Great Fire in London in 1666. The children have reenacted passing buckets of water to see how a lack of hose pipes or fire engines made it very difficult to put the fire out, and we have thought about how lucky we are today to be able to rely on our fantastic Fire Service. The children have also been very creative, using oil pastels to create art in the style of Monet showing the fire gripping London. The children are really enjoying this learning experience and are keen to learn the answer to: What happened in 1666?
