Playground Leaders
Our school is extremely lucky to have a wonderful team of Playground Leaders. The aim of our Playground Leaders is to ensure all children have a fun and enjoyable playtime, where they can interact and communicate with other children, whilst improving their health, fitness, and wellbeing.
At lunchtime, their role is to help organise games across the Key Stage 2 playground. The Playground Leaders undertake training, and are taught skills such as communication, fair play, organising groups/teams and the STEP principle (Space, Task, Equipment, People).
Playground Leaders work alongside Teaching Assistants to learn and develop skills such as teamwork, responsibility, communication, collaborative learning, and problem-solving. Meeting regularly with Mrs Shepherd, they discuss which activities children enjoy, how they can be further developed; and encourage ideas for new activities through School Council and class discussion.
